Pedal Covers for the Shirley Muldowney Cha Cha Nova
GAINESVILLE, Texas (July 23rd) – While building the 1,000-horsepower Shirley Muldowney Cha Cha Nova, we knew we had to have pedals that are built to handle the driving style of a street legal racecar but also look like a million bucks.
Thanks to our friends over at Modo Innovations, we received these amazing pedal covers made of two piece billet aluminum. Watch Rory Roberts explain in detail below.
Building the pedals starts from a solid block of billet aluminum. The block is put under a CNC machine that cuts the break, clutch, and accelerator pedals into two matching pieces. The break and clutch pedals are then taken to a press to be bent.
Both pieces of the break and clutch pedals are then powder coated in Sparkling Berry by our friends over at DFW Coating. (Only the back piece of accelerator pedal is powder coated) Once both pieces are powder coated, the front pieces then taken and resurfaced in the machine leaving a grippy texture on the pedal and also leading the Cha Cha exposed in the pedals glowing in the Sparkling Berry.
Last step is getting the rivets punched in to the break and clutch pedals for added texture needed when shifting and breaking. The accelerator pedal is left slick for when you are “heel to toeing” the break and accelerator pedals.
